WHY COMPANY CULTURE MATTERS?
Last week, one of my friends who recently joined a small size company as a Senior Manager told me “I really like my new company’s product, their brand positioning, their strategies are good and I also like the colleagues who are working here. Just something not so right is happening - people are leaving the organization because they’re unsure about the company vision and how their jobs support that vision”.
My friend’s concern actually touched a very important factor of a successful organization - COMPANY CULTURE. So what is company culture?
Company culture is a set of shared beliefs, goals, norms, and values that characterize your organization. In other words, it’s the personality of your organization. It’s the way people feel about the work they do, the values they believe in, where they see the company is going and what their job is contributing to get it there.
Company culture is formed based on company core values, the company’s vision and mission, what value your organization is offering to contribute. A lot of that comes from the founder who is the soul of the organization, what s/he believes. And the purpose is to hire and do business with people who believe what you believe.
Company is who Hire , Fire and Promote
Some start-up leaders I know are very smart, talented, and confident. They can win deals with customers, create good relationships with investors, and develop successful collaborations with their partners, but they have difficulties understanding why their employees cannot copy their working style. In contrast, the members are not so proactive, innovative, or passionate. The thing is, leaders were too busy with revenue, growth, profit, and have not been able to communicate the core values, vision and mission which are guidelines for your employees to refer to.

Let’s look at it this way. If you can inspire your people why the organization exists, where people can see themself and the company in the future, why they do what they do everyday, not just because of the paycheck, people will work for you with their blood, sweat and tears.
